Interview with Dr Barbara Obłoj, founder of the Odent Centre for Orthodontics and Implantology in Warsaw, author of many publications and lectures in the field of orthodontics and co-author of scientific research work funded by the Ministry of Science, who also finds time to cooperate with the Cleft Dreams Foundation supporting the treatment of children with facial cleft defects. A concrete, matter-of-fact, professional and at the same time extremely kind woman.
Vip Business Club: Hello Doctor. Please tell us how you managed to create such a modern and patient-friendly Odent Orthodontics and Implantology Centre?
Dr Barbara Obloj: Creating a professional dental clinic has always been a dream of mine. I wanted to work according to my principles, to have a perfectly trained staff of doctors and support staff. All in order to have some freedom to treat, sometimes even free of charge, patients for whom this is necessary and urgent at the moment, and who do not have the financial means to do so. While studying dentistry at the Medical University of Szczecin, I decided to simultaneously study economics at the University of Szczecin. The economic knowledge proved to be helpful in fulfilling my dream of setting up my own clinic. The rest is the result of extremely hard work and the passion with which I have pursued this profession for so many years.
VBK: What makes Odent different from others in the market?
BO: I think it is particularly appreciated by patients. The team at the Odent Orthodontics and Implantology Centre consists of specialists with experience and an excellent track record with patients. Such a team, combined with the latest technologies at the clinic's disposal, guarantees truly spectacular results. All our doctors regularly attend symposia and conferences to improve their qualifications. It is not without significance that, in addition to their professionalism, they have a good approach to patients. Even those most demanding for attention ? children.
VBK: What cutting-edge treatment methods does the Doctor offer her patients?
BO: All dental specialities now form one inseparable whole. In the field of implantology and dental surgery, we use a modern apparatus-piezosurgery allowing for incredible precision in surgical procedures, the possibility of placing an implant and making a crown on an implant in one day. I would also mention prosthodontics and the all-ceramic Zircona and Lava crowns and bridges performed by dentists in our centre - the most modern technology in the world today. In orthodontics, on the other hand, we specialise mainly in the treatment of difficult orthognathic defects and clefts, where tooth straightening is often assisted by jaw surgery.
VBK: What aesthetic medicine treatments do you carry out?
BO: Aesthetic qualities are playing an increasingly important role in everyone's social life. More and more patients, despite having well-kept teeth, want to improve them aesthetically. Such services require specialisation at the highest level and we offer such. Patients can whiten their teeth with the ZOOM whitening lamp in a single visit. We also offer porcelain veneers, prosthetic crowns or inlays.
VBK: As a practitioner, where do you see the greatest progress in the development of modern dentistry?
BO: Over the last fifteen years, dentistry has developed extremely rapidly. Both globally and in Poland. It is worth noting that these changes relate to technological advances and changes in procedures and treatments in dentistry. We have new and improved equipment and apparatus used for diagnosis and treatment and a number of changes in procedures. This applies to all areas of dentistry - dental and maxillofacial surgery, implantology, prosthetics, dental prophylaxis, tooth whitening, orthodontics.
VBK: In what direction does Odent want to develop?
BO: Our aim is to provide comprehensive treatment taking care of all spheres - health, functional and aesthetic. Knowledge, professional experience, constant work and learning, perfection in detail and setting a high bar above all for ourselves are the direction for the further development of the clinic.
VBK: Thank you for talking to us, Doctor, and I wish all your patients not only a healthy, but also a beautiful smile!
